International Process Metallurgy Conference 2016

In the current downturn of minerals, metals and coal commodity prices coupled with the declining resources grades, the global industry is now entering a period of intense competition. Such competitive environment drives the industry to focus on reducing costs; hence increasing the need of improvement in productivity. Technological advancement for both future and existing operations is also imperative as the easy-to-process and easily accessible resources are steadily dwindling making the processing metallurgy increasingly complex.

On the other hand, older processing technologies often have outdated equipment and techniques that can result in less than optimal recoveries and availability. However, improvement in metallurgical efficiency by the use of a more expensive methods or reagent cannot always be justified. Innovation is therefore even more imperative to enables growth in the future.

One way to foster innovation and catalyse advancement is through scientific forum that gather the professionals, academics, researchers and policy makers that engaged in process metallurgy. This encourages all participants from Indonesia and abroad to develop and share new knowledge in the advances and optimization in metallurgical processing and also to leverages best practices. Hence, this year’s theme of the First International Process Metallurgy Conference (IPMC) is “Increasing Competitiveness through Innovations and Advancements in Process Metallurgy Industries” and will broadly cover mineral and coal processing, pyrometallurgy, hydro-electrometallurgy, physical metallurgy and alloy design. This event will also foster innovation for students through competitions and lecture series.

International Process Metallurgy Conference

  1. Digging constructive thoughts from several experts to develop mineral and coal processing, extractive metallurgy and physical metallurgy.
  2. Explaining and discussing latest advancements in technology and its innovations related to mineral and coal processing and process optimization implemented in national and international industry.
  3. Strengthening network and synergy between stakeholders (policy makers, industry, academia and researchers) to develop related field.
