FTTM ITB and PT Ormat Geothermal Indonesia Establish Strategic Cooperation for Geothermal Engineering Masters Program

Bandung, June 20, 2025 — The Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FTTM) at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and PT Ormat Geothermal Indonesia (OGI) officially signed a Cooperation Agreement for the Implementation of the Master’s Program in Geothermal Engineering. The signing ceremony took place on Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Four Points Hotel in Bandung, marking a shared commitment between the two institutions to support the development of highly qualified human resources in the geothermal energy sector.

This agreement represents a joint effort to enhance the quality of human capital in the field of new and renewable energy, particularly in geothermal. PT Ormat Geothermal Indonesia, as an energy company committed to environmentally friendly electricity production, has partnered with FTTM ITB as an academic collaborator to support the professional development of its workforce through a formal master’s level education program.

The signing event was attended by Dr. Ir. Dedy Irawan, S.T., M.T., Head of the Geothermal Engineering Master’s Program at FTTM ITB, along with FTTM staff members, as well as representatives from PT OGI and their team.

This agreement is expected to serve as a strategic step in strengthening the national geothermal education and industrial ecosystem. Through this collaboration, FTTM ITB and PT Ormat Geothermal Indonesia aim to produce master’s graduates who are ready to contribute to the sustainable development of geothermal energy in Indonesia.
