ITB plans Rp 110b research center

The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) plans to build an eight-story research center for both national and international research, according to ITB rector Akhmaloka.

Akhmaloka said that the building, worth Rp 110 billion (US$12.1 million), would be a mining research center.

“We hope we can raise the funds from corporate partners,” Akhmaloka said during the inauguration of the ITB’s new petrophysics laboratory in Bandung on Friday.

The center is expected to become a center for research on oil reservoirs, production optimization, geological exploitation and coal exploitation development.

Chevron Pacific Indonesia president director Abdul Hamid Batubara said that his company was interested to be involved in the project. He refused to elaborate on the details, however, kompas.com reported. [The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Fri, 12/02/2011 4:29 PM]
